What is your favorite thing about being a student at UGA?

My favorite thing about UGA is the diverse community. There are plenty of people who have similar goals but extremely different backgrounds. I find it comforting when someone decides to share where they come from and how they ended up at UGA.

Why did you choose engineering?

I chose engineering because I thought it would be fun. I find it interesting how the field can span from the smallest particle to outer space travel!

What has been the greatest challenge you have faced while at UGA, and how did you overcome it?

Bad time management was the hardest thing for me to overcome. I soon realized that I had to set my school priorities ahead of everything else and kept telling myself that I am at UGA for a reason.

What have you learned (or are learning) that has made a difference for you?

There is no one more important than yourself. Set aside some time for yourself so that you can perform at your best.

What/Who has helped you become a successful student here at UGA?

I would like to express my gratitude to all my friends that I made at UGA. Whether in Engineering or not, each and every person has had an impact on my performance and success.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus is the UGA Chapel Bell. I find it very satisfying to ring the bell after completing a difficult task.

What is your favorite restaurant in Athens?

There are plenty of delicious restaurants in Athens, but you can never go wrong with Cali N Tito’s. The steak cubano is something everyone should try at least once!

Favorite class at UGA?

My favorite class at UGA is the Introduction to Mechanical Engineering course. I took it my first semester here and it helped me realize that I chose the right major. It also helped me understand how interesting mechanical engineering is.

Best memory at UGA so far?

My best memory at UGA is performing at the Vietnamese Student Association annual culture event, Night In Saigon. I had never performed on stage before then and it was super fun. That experience really encouraged me to be more confident.

What advice do you have for younger students who wish to pursue engineering?

Engineering is a very fulfilling major. That feeling when you finish solving a problem that you have been working on over a long period of time is something difficult to describe; however, when the solution helps change the environment or even something small in a person’s life, then all the hardship was worthwhile.

How do you hope to impact society with your engineering degree?

With my degree I hope to be able to inspire other first-generation students to see all the possibilities engineering has to offer, especially in the aeronautical field. I want it to not be about merit but enthusiasm.
