Classroom learning is just one part of the process students will go through in order to achieve their Bachelor's degree. Experiences outside of the classroom are just as important to the overall understanding of the engineering field. It is for this reason that engineering students have the opportunity to join clubs in their emphasis areas, many of which have special industry-related guest speakers. Many of these clubs also attend academic and industry-related conferences. It is in these ways that the department at UGA provides specialized educational experiences to take learning out of the lecture hall and lab and into the professional world.

The Engineering Graduate Student Club - The club is available to all engineering graduate students. The purpose of the organization is to foster the social, educational and professional interests of graduate students.

Membership in a professional society is available through the Institute for Biological Engineers (IBE). The IBE provides pre-professional programs for students thinking of professionally entering the biological engineering field, as well as providing contacts with practicing engineers in the institute.

Membership in a professional society is available through the Georgia Student Branch of ASAE. This organization allows members to develop professional attitudes, gain leadership experience, and practice management and organizational skills.
