The AgP2 Program has developed several tools for addressing on-farm pollution. |
| Georgia Farm Assessment System (Farm*A*Syst) |
The Georgia Farm*A*Syst program is an interagency partnership that provides Georgia's farmers with information on pollution prevention, and a voluntary means to become environmentally pro-active in managing their farms and ultimately preventing pollution. This program, like the national program that it is modeled after, focuses on identifying potential sources of contamination, supplying information on corrective actions, and ultimately encouraging the farmer to formulate an action plan to address concerns. These environmental assessments address a variety of topics including: Poultry Production, Beef Cattle Production, Nutrient Management, Safe Handling and Storage of Pesticides, Integrated Pest Management for Cotton, and Improving Drinking Water wells. |
Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for Agriculture (Poultry Pilot Project) |
| The Ag P2 Program has worked with a national consortium of land grant universities and local industry to develop an environmental management system for poultry production. For more information, contact Tommy Bass at 706.542.2735 or tmbass@engr.uga.edu. |
