Public service in Engineering at the University of Georgia has
two main sections, extension and outreach. Extension provides services
for agricultural based problems, questions, and concerns. Outreach
focuses on waste reduction and by-product recovery throughout businesses
in Georgia. Both enhance Georgia's communities, businesses, and
industries.
Extension

Other Public Service Divisions
State Climatology Office. (http://climate.engr.uga.edu/)
The State Climatology Office archives the state's weather and climate
records, supplies climate information to the public, governmental
agencies, and the media, and performs applied research concerning
weather and climate impacts on Georgia.
Watershed Assessment Team. (http://watershed.bae.uga.edu/)
The Watershed Assessment Team collaborates with the engineering
consulting firm, Carter & Sloope, Inc. to provide technically sound
and economically feasible watershed assessments for municipalities
in the State of Georgia. The Watershed Assessment Team gathers
water quality, stream habitat, soils, land use and climate data
to predict the effects on streams due to development using computer
models. The Team then uses knowledge of best management practices
and the suggestions of the stakeholders for the watershed in question
to come up with management scenarios that will maintain and improve
the watershed.
