How to make your own Home Page
If you're a graduate student with the department, it is very easy
to set up your own home page:
- Contact Tim Anderson (webmaster@bae.uga.edu), and he
will create a directory for you, as well as activate the link for you
on the graduate student list.
- The WWW uses the Hyper Text Markup Language, HTML.There are several ways of authoring HTML pages. You can do one of the following:
- A
Beginner's Guide to HTML - NSCA's classic guide is a good
tutorial, and a great reference sheet. What every WWW beginner needs
to write her/his first document.
- We maintain our own archive of
frequently-used icons (and other inline images, such as lines, etc.)
in the department. If you need more icons etc, try the Icons
page at Yahoo.
- Pattern
Land is an excellent source of all kinds of different backgrounds
that you can use. For other kinds of complex imaging
requirements, check out the Imaging
Machine.
- Make Your
Own Home Page is a simple form/cgi script that generates HTML code
based on inputs to the form.
- When you feel the need for more advanced HTML, use the WWW
Authoring Page at Yahoo.
- Finally, asking more experienced computer types is always a good place to start!
