Twitter chat on citizen science features UGA Engineering researcher

Marine Debris Initiative logoJenna Jambeck, an associate professor in the University of Georgia College of Engineering, will be a guest panelist on a Twitter discussion Sept. 23 that will explore the use of smartphone apps in citizen science.

Jambeck and Kyle Johnson, also an associate professor in the UGA College of Engineering, developed the Marine Debris Tracker. The app allows users to easily catalog marine debris or litter anywhere in the world. Marine Debris Tracker was named to a list of “Apps We Can’t Live Without” at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in 2014.

The Twitter discussion begins at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at the hashtag #CitSciChat. Those not on Twitter can follow the stream at www.carencooper.com/citscichat.html.

You can also follow Jambeck on Twitter using the following handles: @DebrisTracker and @JambeckResearch.
