“100 Influential Women to Know” list includes UGA Engineering alumnae

Two University of Georgia College of Engineering alumnae, Julie Secrist and Hillary Tanner, are included on a list of “100 Influential Women to Know” compiled by Engineering Georgia magazine.

Tanner (BSAE ’99) is a senior lecturer in the College of Engineering where she also coordinates the College’s ABET accreditation efforts. In addition, she serves as the faculty advisor for the College’s student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Tanner works to integrate activities into her engineering courses that support student learning through visualization skills.

Julie Secrist

Secrist (BSAE ’06) is a senior project manager with Southeastern Engineering, Inc. and serves on the UGA College of Engineering Advisory Board. In 2017, she earned the Young Engineer of the Year Award from the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers. During her career, she’s helped the Georgia Department of Transportation restore more than 17,000 properties.

Also named to the list was Gwynne Darden, Associate Vice President for Facilities Planning and University Architects at UGA.
