Top Ways to Give to UGA Engineering
1. An outright gift of cash
The most immediate way to make your gift is through the UGA online giving portal. You may designate your area of support in just a few convenient steps.
You may also write a check payable to the University of Georgia College of Engineering, with the fund designation noted on the memo line and send to:
UGA College of Engineering Development Office
500 D.W. Brooks Drive
130 Paul D. Coverdell Center
Athens, GA 30602
All undesignated gifts will be placed within the Engineering Enhancement Fund.
2. Gifts of Securities and Stocks
By donating appreciated stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares that have been owned for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax. You also receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift.
Stock gifts are made through The UGA Foundation, the charitable organization that raises private monies for the University. You can find more information on providing securities and stocks gifts here.
3. Endowment Gifts
Endowment gifts to the UGA College of Engineering ensure support for today while providing educational and research excellence, as well as innovation far into the future. A portion of the investment earnings is spent, while the original gifts are preserved as principal. In this way, endowed gifts have far greater earning power—a one-time gift lasts forever. 4. Planned Giving
Gift planning helps you integrate your personal and family financial goals with your charitable giving. The UGA Office of Gift & Estate Planning is pleased to work with you and your professional adviser to develop a gift plan that meets your personal and philanthropic objectives.
We invite you to explore the G&E Planning site to learn how a properly planned gift may actually increase your spendable income, reduce your income, estate, and capital-gain taxes, and complement your retirement income. Create your personal legacy and maximize your lasting impact on the future of The University of Georgia and the College of Engineering.
5. Payroll Deduction
UGA employees may choose to give through the convenience of payroll deduction. Simply click here to complete the online payroll deduction form or to download a form.
Deductions can be terminated or changed by written notice. Please allow at least 14 days prior to a payroll transaction.
