The College of Engineering commits to excellence in:
- preparing engineers of the future by interweaving technical excellence, innovative curiosity and human consciousness in a learning environment that inspires devotion to the integration of discoveries from multiple fields for designing sustainable solutions;
- creating a learning environment for use-inspired research that is simultaneously motivated by state, national and global needs and the quest for knowledge and thrives on unpredictable opportunities at the confluence of disciplines;
- providing engineering outreach that extends technical assistance to businesses, industries, municipalities and communities and creates a foundation of continuous improvement through service, life-long learning and professional education; and
- devising new dimensions in research, teaching and outreach in the University to educate more technologically literate UGA graduates and expedite translation of discoveries into useful technologies and services for improving the quality of life.
The UGA Strategic Plan 2000-2010, approved by the University Council in November, 2000, includes a description of Comprehensive Engineering.

The profile of a UGA engineer is woven with strands of technical excellence in science, mathematics, analysis and synthesis; innovative curiosity for creative adaptation from learning, unlearning and relearning; and humanistic consciousness grounded in humanities, arts and social sciences.
